Colin Higgins (1941-1988) was a screenwriter and director of the film comedies
Harold and Maude,
Silver Streak,
Foul Play, and
Nine to Five. The collection consists of personal and professional correspondence, screenplays in various drafts, research materials,
production reports, army and college notes, and photographs.
Background
Higgins was born in Noumea, New Caledonia on July 28, 1941; attended Sorbonne, University of Paris, 1965; BA, Stanford, 1967;
MFA, UCLA, 1970; screenwriter and director of film comedies Harold and Maude, Silver Streak, Foul Play, and Nine to Five; his film, Harold and Maude, was based on a screenplay written for his master's thesis; died on August 5, 1988.
