Description
Letters to Dorothy Herrington, 1926 and 1937; a travel diary kept by Martin on a trip made to Spain in 1907; and correspondence
with Mr̀io Melo, Alan K. Manchester, Joao Carlos Muniz, and John Tate Lanning, 1932-33, pertaining to Brazilian entries in
Martin's proposed biographical dictionary for Latin America. Collection also includes 2 oversized certificates, 1927, from
groups in Uruquay and Cuba.
Background
Professor of history at Stanford (1908-1942). Martin received A.B. (1902), A.M. (1903) from Stanford and A.M. (1907), Ph.D.
(1912) from Harvard.
