This collection contains the family, personal, and business papers of Colorado cattle rancher J.D. Craighead (1873-1964),
including materials related to the Craighead Ranch and irrigation projects; diaries; account books; and some government documents
and maps.
Background
J.D. (Jacob Ditzler) Craighead, started a cattle ranch in La Junta, Colorado, in
1905, which was the beginning of the Hereford cattle industry in that area.
