Biographical/Historical note
Lydia Lucile Meyer, former school teacher, received her A.M. in German from Stanford in 1913. The youngest of 12 children,
Miss Meyer was born in 1885 in Wisconsin. She taught German for 25 years at the West Allis, Wisconsin, High School. Following
her death in 1942, the Louisa Wiepking Meyer Scholarship was established, so named for her mother. Her brother, Dr. Arthur
William Meyer, was a professor of anatomy at Stanford from 1909-1938.
