    Biographical / Historical

    Gordon S. Kino was the W. M. Keck Foundation Professor of Electrical Engineering, Emeritus, and a professor of applied physics at Stanford University until his death on Oct. 9, 2017. He was 89. He was best known for inventing new microscopes that improved semiconductor manufacturing and transformed medical diagnostics.
