    This collection was transferred from Golden Gate National Recreation Area to San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park.

    Historical or Biographical Note

    San Francisco Maritime State Historic Park included Hyde Street Pier, Aquatic Park, Haslett Warehouse, and the ships C.A. Thayer (3m schooner), Alma (scow schooner), Hercules (tugboat, prop), Eppleton Hall (tugboat, side wheel), Eureka (ferry, side wheel) and Wapama (steam schooner).
    The Park was administered by the State from 1957 until 1977. Concurrently, collections and the Balclutha (ship, 3m) were administered by the San Francisco Maritime Museum. In 1977, the San Francisco Maritime State Historic Park became part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, administered by the National Park Service.

    Collection includes organizational planning documents, correspondence, accident reports, brochures & booklets, Project X, correspondence regarding transfer of Haslett Warehouse to the State, financial and special events records, apprenticeship program, Hyde Street Pier logbooks, newspaper clippings, oversized plans and miscellaneous papers (1957-1978).
