    Collection Scope and Contents

    This collection primarily consists of hand and typewritten notes, outlines, story synopses, drafts, and manuscripts of science fiction works by feminist author Jody Scott. Materials for the following titles are included in the collection: Passing for Human, I, Vampire, Death in Seattle, Kiss the Whip, Starmasters, Hell Girls, and Friendly Fire. There is also correspondence with literary agents and editors, as well as some other correspondence, scattered around throughout the collection. A number of the manuscripts in the collection were unpublished at the time of her death in 2007.

    Chronology and Title variations

    Below is an estimated chronological order of Jody Scott's novels, both published and unpublished, with a listing of the known alternate/working titles that were associated with each novel.
    1. Cure It With Honey, 1951. Later republished as I'll Get Mine. Co-authored with George Thurston Leite.
    2. "Down Will Come Baby," novellette in July 1968 volume of Escapade.
    3. Kiss the Whip. Alternate titles: Zed the Leg.
    4. Passing for Human, 1977. First book in the Benaroya series. Alternate titles: H. G. Slept Here, The Lady with the Alligator Purse, You Were Never Lovlier.
    5. I, Vampire, 1982. Second Book in the Benaroya series.
    6. Starmasters (unpublished).
    7. Friendly Fire (unpublished). Alternate titles: Bash 'Em, A Journey to the End of the Movie, Universal Life, Fear of Death, Family Values.
    8. Girl Talk (unpublished).
    9. Devil-May-Care. Third book in the Benaroya series, published posthumously in 2016. Alternate titles: Just Say No.
    10. Death in Seattle (unpublished). Alternate titles: Rawlence Cage, A Little Shop of Our Own, Schwartz, The 2nd Funeral of Arthur.
    11. East is Even (unpublished).
    12. Hellgirls. Fourth book in the Benaroya series, unpublished. Alternate titles: Eating George Sand, Matty Brine and the Foul Smelling Ghost, The Burning.
