Abstract: Dorris Gurley joined the U.S. Navy in 1919 aged 25. His active naval service finished in April 1946, when he retired with
the rank of Captain. During World War II he commanded the naval air stations at Ottumwa, Iowa and later at Bunker Hill, Indiana
