Abstract: The Victorian Sheet Music Covers
Collection consists of approximately 840 sheet music covers produced in the United Kingdom
during the Victorian era, which depict various aspects of British life and culture at the
time, and demonstrate the development of printing techniques including color lithography and
embossing. While the majority of the items in the collection are only covers, a few pieces
are still attached to their scores. Also included in the collection is a small number of
news clippings with articles related to Victorian music and music hall
performers.

Scope and Contents
The
Victorian Sheet Music Covers Collection consists of
approximately 840 sheet music covers produced in the United Kingdom during the Victorian
era, which depict various aspects of British life and culture at the time, and demonstrate
the development of printing techniques including color lithography and embossing. While the
majority of the items in the collection are only covers, a few pieces are still attached to
their scores. Also included in the collection is a small number of news clippings with
articles related to Victorian music and music hall performers. The covers in the collection
have been arranged alphabetically by song title.
