Charles T. Harbeck (1850 or 1851-1929) was a businessman and naval historian and was author of A Contribution to the Bibliography of the History of the United States Navy (1906), published with the assistance of the New York and Boston Public Libraries.

    Scope and Contents

Collection consists of papers relating to the U.S. Navy and to naval officers. Material includes letters, orders, commissions, records of various ships, including the U.S.S. Constitution, and other documents, primarily dealing with the naval operations of the Revolutionary War and nineteenth century wars, including the War of 1812 and the Civil War. There is also a small group of items concerning the British Navy. The collection was assembled by Charles T. Harbeck for purposes of extra-illustrating Edgar Stanton Maclay's History of the U. S.
