J. Ferrell Colton collection of clippings and ephemera (SAFR 17226, HDC 319) contains miscellaneous unfiled and filed clippings
(filed alphabetically by ship name) and reproductions. Including: cards; magazine articles; a recollection of a voyage on
the CARL RUDGERT VINNEN, by Rudolf Dorrer; many ship photograph clippings (some with information about the ships); a ship
menu; annual report by the Board of Harbor Commissioners of Hawaii (1932/33); a copy of the May 1938 edition of The Marine
Magazine; clippings of chanties (sailor songs); travel promotions; a four-page history of the BALCLUTHA 1949); an article
about the restoration of the BALCLUTHA; an article about the C.A THAYER'S last voyage (to the Maritime Museum); a rigging
plan; a small collection of "American Naval Scenes" (color drawings of famous American naval engagements. e.g.: the clash
between The SERAPIS and The BON HOMME RICHARD); a San Francisco Examiner and Chronicle's article about the last voyage of
the BALCLUTHA; a "Nautical
Research Journal" (March-April, 1995) with an article about the BALCLUTHA; ships specifications for the MAIPO (built 1893);
an abridged log of the FOZ DO DOURO (built 1892); information and correspondence regarding the FLAGSTAFF VICTORY (built 1944);
FLYING CLOUD picture and article; articles, pictures and other information on the KAIULANI; a folder with articles and pictures
of the JOSEPH CONRAD (schooner); sketch of the OSTARA's voyage route around Cape Horn (daily progress from March 8 - May 12,
