- E.R. Hedrick (1876-1943) was a professor of mathematics at UCLA (1937- ), and provost. He also served as vice-president for the University of California, was the editor-in-chief of the Bulletin of American Mathematical Society (1921-37), vice-president (1916) and president (1929-30) of the American Mathematical Society, and president of the Mathematical Association of America (1916). The collection consists of Hedrick's mathematical notebooks and journals.

Hedrick was born on September 27, 1876 in Union City, Indiana; AB, University of Michigan, 1896; AM, Harvard University, 1898; Ph.D, University of Göttingen, 1901; attended École Normale Supérieure, 1901; LL.D, University of Missouri, 1939; instructor of mathematics, Sheffield Scientific School (Yale), 1901-03; professor of mathematics, University of Missouri, 1903-24; in 1924 became professor, and in 1937, provost, UCLA; served as vice-president, University of California; editor-in-chief, Bulletin of American Mathematical Society, 1921-37; vice-president (1916) and president (1929-30), American Mathematical Society; president, Mathematical Association of America, 1916; published works include An algebra for secondary schools (1908); he died on February 3, 1943.
