Scope and content:

This collection consists mostly of photographs and slides taken by John F. Kleinman, and one photograph by Thomas H. Owens, at auto races held at the Riverside International Raceway during the 1970s and 1980s. Photographs in the collection depict mostly the racecars and action shots, with some photographs of the drivers, crews and spectators. The collection also includes a brochure for the raceway, and programs from races, including one program signed by driver Tim Richmond.

Biographical / historical:

The Riverside Interntational Raceway was a race track in Riverside, California that was in operation from 1957-1989. It held a variety of auto races, including IndyCar, NASCAR, and drag races, and was used as a frequent filming location for movies, television, and commercials.
