Associated Students Incoporated (ASI) is the nonprofit corporation and student government organization at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. It operates as a California State University auxiliary organization.
It was founded in 1938 under the name Student Activities Committee (SAC) by student Avon Carlson, who also led the group. At that time, students attended classes at the Voorhis Unit in San Dimas, which operated as a southern unit of what is now known as California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. A year later, the group's name was changed to the Student Affairs Council. Over the years, the group was also named Associated Students and Associated Student Body. It took on its current name in 1963, when the school was known as California State Polytechnic College, Kellogg-Voorhis. Cal Poly Pomona split from San Luis Obispo in 1966 and officially became a university in 1972.
In 1970, ASI released a document proposing a student union that would include a games room, a lounge with a television set, and other services. The University Union opened in 1974. The University Union underwent an expansion throughout out the late 1990s and early 2000s. In 2003, it was given its current name: the Bronco Student Center (or BSC).
ASI currently manages the Bronco Student Center and the campus recreation center known as the Bronco Recreation and Intramural Complex (BRIC), which opened in 2014. Students pay fees each semester that go to ASI, Bronco Student Center, and the BRIC.
