This small collection contains Gayle Tanaka's biographical information and several catalogs from various exhibits.

Biographical / historical:

Gayle Tanaka is a visual artist whose work is rooted in photography, but whose versatility is revealed through the use of multi-media, including printmaking, collage and three dimensional representations in her installations. She explores the nuances of multicultural themes through instersections of time, culture and personal history. Through the manipulation of memory and influence, she gives insights that take us behind the changing face of America.

She has exhibited nationally in both solo and group shows, including such venues as the Yerba Buena Center and the Jewish Museum in San Francisco, the Chicago Cultural Center and the Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art and the Center for Photography in New York.

Gayle Tanaka currently resides in New York. She was born and raised in Chicago, received her B.A. in painting from the University of Hawaii and her MFA in printmaking from San Francisco State University. For more information on the artist visit gayletanaka.com
