This collection consists of a portfolio containing a panorama photograph, divided into 7 photoprints, hinged together. The photograph was taken from San Pablo and 14th Streets in Oakland, California, circa 1879. The photographer was Albert H. Wulzen. The following is the text from a note on the inner front cover of the album from J. C. Rowell, a University of California librarian:

"The date of this Panorama is approximately fixed as 1879. Albert H. Wulzen's name first appears in an Oakland directory of 1878-79. The Grand Central Hotel, located on Twelfth St., between Franklin and Webster Sts., was burned March 9, 1880. The picture of this building is in this photograph. J. C. Rowell, Librarian. Oct. 17, 1908."
