Scope and content:

This collection contains archives of General-of-Infantry Dmitrii Shcherbachev, Voennyi Predstavitel' Verkhovnago Pravitelia pri Soiuznykh Pravitel'stvakh i Soiuznom Verkhovnom Komandovanii (Military Representative of Admiral Kolchak to the Allied governments in Paris) It consists of correspondence, reports, orders, newspaper clippings and other printed matter. Contains material relating to Russian military operations during World War I, Russian prisoners of war in Germany, and the Russian Revolution and Civil War. Includes material regarding Russian military personnel remaining on Western Front after World War I, deals with Russian contingents in France and Macedonia, and Russian prisoners of war in Germany, Italy and the Baltic, and describes conditions of life for Russian military personnel in internment camps, especially in France. Includes contents that deal extensively with the repatriation of Russian troops, including problems of transport and destination for repatriated troops into White or Communist held territories. Also deals with the political mood of the soldiers, the effect of Bolshevik propaganda and attempts to form anti-Communist units to fight in the Civil War.
