This collection contains files used by J. Gordon Melton while compiling his book Religious Leaders of America: A Biographical Guide to Founders and Leaders of Religious Bodies, Churches, and Spiritual Groups in North America, first published in 1991. The files, which are arranged alphabetically by the person's name, contain correspondence, photocopied clippings, writings, and other materials by and about the religious leaders and their groups.
