World War I era album, ca. 1917-1919, of British Private J. Bloom, 13th Divisional Cyclist Company, Mesopotamia Expeditionary Force. Includes 54 postcards from Mesopotamia (many of Basrah [Basra] and surrounding area), 47 of Port Said, and 18 of Marseille. Also 62 black/white snapshots, most with captions, of fellow soldiers, former Turkish barracks, street scenes, and local residents, e.g. shepherd, water carrier, letter writer, tea drinkers, shops and shopkeepers, date packer, Kurdish shoemaker, Arab children - all apparently taken in Iraq, with some identified as being from Basrah.
