Privately printed memoir with an introduction, interpolations, and epilogue by her husband Theodore J. Hoover, engineering professor at Stanford University and brother of Herbert Hoover. Also included are two wedding invitations to E. P. Hunt, 1925 and 1926, and a letter to E. P. Hunt from Theodore J. Hoover that originally accompanied the book, 1942.

Mildred Crew Brooke Hoover (1872-1940) was a California history writer who published "Historic Spots in California" in 1932. She was also the state regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Additionally, she helped organize the Palo Alto Art Club (later known as the Pacific Art League), of which she was later president. Mildred Crew Brooke Hoover was the wife of Theodore Hoover, dean emeritus of the Stanford University School of Engineering and Herbert Hoover's brother.
