Scope and content:

Collection contains two spiral-bound notebooks of color photographs taken by Dietmar Hochmuth during the symposium; people represented include Vucinich, Nancy S. Kollmann, Alexander Dallin, Alexander Vucinich, Thomas Simons, Gabor Vermes, Reginald Zelnik, Norman Naimark, and Gordon Craig.

Biographical / historical:

Wayne S. Vucinich (1913-2005) was Emeritus Professor of History, and one of the founders of Russian, Slavic, and East European studies and Stanford University. He wrote and edited many studies on the "Communist Bloc" region. In 2000, Vucinich's former students honored him by organizing a two-day symposium on the Balkans. Dietmar Hochmuth (1954-) is a German filmmaker who has written several screenplays and published photographs, articles, reviews, and interviews related to film in German newspapers and magazines.
