Film on the collaboration between researchers at Stanford and the Stanford Office of Technology Licensing to patent their new technologies. Includes interviews with Dr. Stanley N. Cohen on DNA recombinant technology; Prof. Walter Murray on MINOS optimization software and its various applications; Prof. John M. Chowning on frequency modulation synthesis and Yamaha's use of it in making keyboard synthesizers; Prof. Julius Smith on wave guide synthesis for music synthesizers; Prof. Calvin Quate on the atomic force microscope; Drs. Alan Krensky and Carol Clayberger on their work to develop drugs to increase transplant tolerance; and Katherine Ku, director of the Office of Technology Licensing, on the process of patenting and developing products. Other persons representing the OTL include Niels J. Reimers, Luis R. Mejia, Mary K. Watanabe, Jon Sandelin, and Mona M. Wan.
