Cathering Sylvia Bastin was an American Red Cross nurse in Europe during World War I who worked at American Women's War Hospital in Paignton, South Devon, England. Paignton located near the seaside town of Torquay on the southern coast of England lending its proximity to France and access to railways during the Great War.
