Background

Scope and content:: This collection contains papers and scrapbooks from Jack Peltason, founding Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs at UC Irvine, UC Irvine Chancellor from 1984 to 1992, and President of the University of California from 1992-1995. There are materials from his early academic career, his years as President of the University of California and from his post retirement years. The papers include correspondence, subject files, awards and honors, and information about this professional service. The scrapbooks contain an assortment of newspaper clippings, photographs, awards and miscellaneous ephemera documenting Peltason's life and professional activities between 1966 and 1985. Also included is material related to the Women's Faculty Club, Faculty & Associates, Suzanne Peltason's work on a UCI 25th anniversary book, a small amount of material from Peltason's 2015 memorial service, as well as a DVD of a Jack Peltason interview with the City of Irvine, held on April 16, 2006 (time 00:40:30).
