Included are numerous samples of Cushing's commercial and fine printing, as well as the works of numerous other fine and commercial presses, amateur journals, printers' magazines, resources for printing, and miscellaneous ephemera. The bulk of the materials generally date from the 1930s through the 1970s.

- Biographical / historical:

Frank Myrle Cushing, born January 10, 1893 in Oakland, CA, was a printer from Southern California. He is perhaps best known for being the proprietor of the Garden View Press.
Cushing began his career as a hobby printer in 1905. In 1929 he started the Garden View Press in Tustin, CA, which he used to print books for private distribution. Cushing designed his home in Tustin to include a printshop and bindery. From 1935 to 1950, he manufactured paper drilling machines, but he eventually sold his plant to one of his employees. Cushing began printing his journal, The Hermit's Gazette, in October 1957. Cushing also joined the National Amateur Press Association in 1957 and was elected as a board member in 1959. Frank Cushing died on May 18, 1977.
