Acquisition information:
Collected by Glendale Public Library staff and others, donors generally unknown.
Processing information:

The photographs and printed documents from this collection were assembled from various photograph and local history collections in the Glendale Public Library's Special Collections room, and Brand Library's files.

The photographs and printed documents were digitized as part of the one-year grant supported California Local History Digital Resources Project (LHDRP) from July 2005 through June 2006. This is a multi-year program supported by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian. Leveraging the infrastructure of the California Digital Library (CDL) in partnership with Califa and Infopeople, the LHDRP explores a model to aggregate, preserve, and provide permanent public access to local history materials maintained by California cultural heritage institutions via a single statewide online access point. For more information, see the project website.

This virtual collection provides a single access point to a selection of primary photographic resources documenting the history of Leslie C. Brand and the Brand Library. More information about the project can be found on the library's website and available to the public through the California Digital Library's Online Archive of California website. Project activities included selection, conservation, photographic documentation, digitization, and cataloging for these selected photographs, postcards, printed documents and personal records. The items were selected from several notebooks in the Special Collections room including the following albums: Airport, Construction, Family, Grand Opening, Home, Library 1946-1968, Library 1969 to Date Exterior, Lodge, Park, and Slides. Additional items from Special Collections are those known as SC Oversized in the Source Item. The remaining items came from files housed at Brand Library, referred to as Brand Library files in the Source Item, and from 'Miradero, the country home of L.C. Brand' referred to as Miradero book in the Source Item.
