Background
- Scope and content:
-
The collection contains mainly reports compiled by UC Santa Barbara's Office of Affirmative Action on university personnel procedures and policies from 1973 to 1994. There is also a small amount of correspondence, pamphlets, and flyers related to the office.
- Biographical / historical:
-
Originally known as UC Santa Barbara's Affirmative Action Office (AAO), the office was founded to addresses questions and concerns regarding equal employment opportunity and affirmative action in employment at UCSB, and was also responsible for developing and maintaining a campus-wide Affirmative Action Personnel Program (AAPP).
In 2006 the office was renamed as the Office of Academic Preparation and Equal Opportunity (APEO) and in 2007 it was again renamed to the Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO). By 2009, the OEO merged with Title IX compliance and together they were known as the Office of Equal Opportunity and Sexual Harassment/Title IX Compliance (OEOSH/TC).
Today, UCSB's Office of Equal Opportunity and Discrimination Prevention manages affirmative action policy.
