Gale Wilhelm was born on April 26, 1908 in Eugene, Oregon. Wilhelm lived in Berkeley, California for most of her adult life. She was an author best known for her lesbian themed novels, We Too Are Drifting (1935), and Torchlight to Valhalla (1938).
Wilhelm died at home in Berkeley, California on July 11, 1991.
- Acquisition information:
- The Gale Wilhelm Papers were given to The Bancroft Library by Gale Wilhelm on March 19, 1962. The bulk of the collection was given by her niece Lauren Kroninger on May 9, 2007.
