Collection includes the information sheets on possible candidates with biographical information and comments on the candidates, communications with faculty, text of Phleger's address at a dinner in honor of Sterling in April 1968 which discusses the process of the committee, and a letter from Sterling to Phleger, 1975.

Biographical / historical:

Herman Phleger was a member of the Stanford Board of Trustees' committee to recommend a new president for Stanford, following the unexpected death of Donald B. Tresidder in 1948.
