Biographical / historical:

Varian, Inc. (known as Varian Associates from its founding until 1999) was one of California's first Silicon Valley companies. It was founded by Russell Varian, Sigurd Varian, and Edward Ginzton in 1948.

Acquisition information:
This collection was given to Stanford University, Special Collections by Varian Associates and Varian, Inc., in 1999, with additions in 2005 and 2006.
