Photograph album, containing 52 black/white snapshots with captions in English, apparently presented by Polish Army soldiers in conjunction with an exhibition at United College, St. Andrews University, Scotland in February 1941. The soldiers were part of a Polish, British, and Norwegian force that captured Ankenes and Narvik [Norway] from the German forces in May, 1940, and broke the chain of German victories in World War II.
The first section of the album primarily contains photos of war-damaged buildings in Warsaw during the German Blitzkrieg of 1939. The second section shows the Polish Free Army fighting in Norway, and third section has images of Scotland, around St. Andrews.
Also with the album is a souvenir program for the exhibition and a newspaper clipping that discusses the long journey of the Polish soldiers in getting to Scotland, and the interest shown by local Scottish residents.
