Background

Scope and content:

Canadian war posters created during the First World War and the Second World War. Collection contains many posters for war bonds as well as recruiting posters, and homefront effort promotions. The majority of items are posters, but some smaller formats such as handbills, broadsides, and several pamphlets are also present.

Acquisition information:
Many (approximately 50) First World War posters received as part of the Edward S. Rogers gift, 1968. Others are from different, often undocumented, sources.

United States war posters received with the Edward S. Rogers gift have been cataloged separately as American war posters from the First World War (BANC PIC 2005.001).
