Amalie Eva Ruth Laaser (Mala Laaser) was born on July 19, 1911 in Königsberg (East Prussia/Germany). Mala Laaser was a journalist and writer in Berlin in the mid and late 1930s. She left Germany in 1939 and fleed to the Unitied Kingdom beause of the Nazi persecution of Jews. While in the UK, she worked in domestic service where she worked her way from maid to school mistress. In 1946, she got engaged and married to Henry Moyes and they had a daughter together later that year.Laaser passed away in Glasgow on March 23, 1953.
