In 1923, a group of Davis citizens formed the College Park Association and developed a new residential area north of the University campus. The group purchased 24.44 acres of land from H.H. and Merle Schmitt for $20,500, subdivided it into lots, and subsequently built homes. Individuals listed on the original articles of incorporation included: F.J Veihmeyer, I.F. Smith, E.H. Hughes, B.D. Moses, H.A. Jones, G.H. Vansell, H.H. Schmitt, E.H. MacGuire, H.E. Jacob, W.E. Tomson, A.H. Hoffman, A.J. Winkler, E.J. Stirniman, A.J. Greer, D.A. Maclise, F.P. Wray, E.S. McBride, W.L. Howard, B.H. Thomas, C.L. Brewer, J.F. Wilson, H.A. Wadsworth, C.B. Williams, W.M. Regan, V.H. Florell, L.J. Fletcher, and J.T. Rosa.
