Background

Scope and content:

The collection includes election and campaign materials, statistical and focus group studies from the 1996 presidential election, the 1995, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011 Duma elections, the 1996, 1999, 2003 St. Petersburg/Leningrad gubernatorial elections and the 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2007 St. Petersburg municipal legislature elections. Of particular interest are the "black PR" materials: surreptitious campaign literature designed and distributed by campaign supporters to discredit competing candidates. The collection also contains a strong subset of materials of the Democratic Party of Russia, especially its St. Petersburg branch, covering the period of 1994 to 2003.
