Background

Scope and content:

This series of photographs depicts the construction of the Donald Bren Events Center beginning in April of 1985 when the site was a small hill located northeast of the Crawford Hall Athletics Complex. The Bren Center, constructed by Saffell & McAdam Construction Company, was completed in time for the first conference basketball game of the 1986-87 season. The first game played in the new arena was between UCI and Utah State University on January 8, 1987. UCI won the game 118 to 96. There are dates on the back of each photograph.
