Scope and content:

Album containing 35 amateur small (9 x 13 cm) color snapshot photographs of Rio de Janeiro, featuring aerial scenes of the city, some at night; Sugar Loaf Mountain, including the aerial cable car to the summit; Guanabara Bay; Copacabana; and highways through the surrounding mountains.

Physical facet:

Photographs are mounted with old-fashioned paper photo corners on rectos of leaves of heavy faded blue-gray paper; interleaved with sheets of glassine; photos without captions.

Bound in album with wood covers, featuring on upper cover a wood inlay view of Sugar Loaf Mountain executed in different types and colors of wood; brown cloth spine, secured with tasseled brown silk cord; gray-blue pastedowns. Large white paper label affixed to rear pastedown indicates that photographs were developed in Joinvile (Brazil), in the photo lab of Mario Prugner, located on R. Dr. Placido Gomes, 658. A second label below identifies manufacturer of album, Leofer, of Sao Paulo, with serial number No. 253-3.
