This collection brings together publications about the GabrieliƱo Nation of Southern California. It includes extracts of books, periodical and newspaper articles, dissertations, and government documents, and covers the Nation's rich history, from prehistoric times to the present. The collection is based on a bibliography that Dr. Ed Evans, formerly head of the library at Loyola Marymount University, created, but contains only the items found in Special Collections. (Dr. Evans continued the work of Mary LaLone's Gabrielino Indians of Southern California: An Annotated Ethnohistoric Bibliography, and carries on from where she left off in 1976.) The main stacks of the library also holds some items listed in Dr. Evans' bibliography, a copy of which is in the Reference section of the William H. Hannon Library at this call number: E99.G15 G55 2002; the bibliography is also in the Department of Archives and Special Collections.
