Placer County liquor licenses, 1851
Abstract:
Eleven licenses issued by the Placer County Treasurer during August through November of 1851; each written on a slip of paper
varying in size from 6x20 cm. to 15x20 cm. Licenses issued in August were signed by D. Bingham (Douglass Bingham), elected
to office in May of 1851. After the general election on Sept. 3rd, licenses were signed by the newly-elected A. Bronk (Abram
Bronk).
Each license specified the name of the licensee, the locality in Placer County where sales would occur, the number of months
granted and the fee for the license. Fees ranged from $8.33 for a two-month license to $17.50 for one good for three months.
