Note:
The original California Theatre was built by William Ralston at 414 Bush Street, San Francisco in 1869. It was demolished
twenty years later and replaced by a larger hotel and theater. This structure was heavily damaged in the earthquake of April
18, 1906 (one of its chimneys toppled onto the firehouse next door, mortally wounding Chief Dennis Sullivan) and burned in
the subsequent fire.
