Abstract:
One holograph letter written and signed by Rev. D. Ripley Sr. from Wesleyville, Erie County, Pennsylvania to the Christian
Commission, an organization that provided supplies, medical services, and religious literature to Union troops during the
American Civil War. The letter recommends Mr. I. Bennehoof, who is described as being highly esteemed, has unimpeachable Christian
character, can perform any kind of manual labor, and would be useful to the Commission. The letter is also signed by William
H. Nech, Rev. H. D. Munsee, and O. F. Wadsworth.
