Abstract:
Album contains 137 black and white and hand-colored photographs, with a few captions in English. Images include markets and
vendor stalls, including dolls, textiles, fish; rice paddies, harvest, and processing; men, women, and children in traditional
clothing; gardens and scenic views, including a shot of Mount Fuji; silk processing, including shots of cocoons and larva,
spinning and weaving the silk; geishas playing music, arranging flowers, and performing tea ceremonies; temples and shrines;
a parade; craftsmen demonstrating their trades, including basket weavers, woodcarvers, coopers, potters, textile workers,
fan and lantern makers. Three photos at the end are of a ruined city.
