Abstract:
Album contains 33 commercial albumen prints of Valparaíso, Santiago, Iquique, Arica (Chile), and St. Vincent (Cape Verde Islands)
with captions in German and Spanish. 17 photos of Valparaíso feature panoramic and street views, buildings and monuments,
local peoples, and casualties of a battle possibly during the Chilean Civil War of 1891. Five Santiago photos feature street
views, including plazas, the National Museum, streetcars and carriages, and a religious procession. Two Iquique photos feature
scenic coastal views and local peoples, and a plaza. One Arica photo features a scenic view from the water. Three St. Vincent
photos feature a panoramic view of a port town, and local peoples. Several uncaptioned photos feature mountain landscapes,
a man on horseback with several dogs, men in a canoe with water buffalo tied to it, and an indigenous family.
