Includes approximately 37 ink sketches attributed to Lindesay Brine relating to his travels in North and Central America (ca.
1866-1872) and his interest in the antiquities and archaeological sites of Native Americans. The bulk of these views are in
Mexico, Guatemala, and Nicaragua. Also present are a sketch of "Our house, Claremont ..." by George A. Brine, watercolor tropical
views (initialled S.M.G.), one watercolor of Glacier Bay (Patagonia), one sketch of Shaou King (Si-Kiang, China) dated 1858,
and several views of British or European locales (Holy Island, Inch Garvie, Venice) and other locations. Many views include
ships or are views of coastlines from sea.
