These records, contributed by various individuals to H.H. Bancroft for his History of California, are, for the most part, original documents, with a few contemporary copies, emanating from or relating to the Califronia missions. Included are correspondence, circular letters, reports and accounts, a few padrones, and one book of marriages. A few printed broadsides were removed for separate cataloging.
The papers have been arranged by mission, then chronologically within each category. Each folder has been numbered. A calendar follows. Appended at the end is a list of correspondents and authors or signers of documents.
Documents in the portfolio are oversize, and report has been so annotated.
