[personal information removed]

Dear Ms. Holmes:

This is to acknowledge receipt of your recent letter in which you outlined your outrage over the serious problem of police brutality. Unfortunately, police brutality, particularly in our community, is all too common.

The scrutiny of police conduct is a matter for local city officials. The killing of little Patrick is one which local officials must take note of and institute corrective action to insure that similar incidents do not occur.

On a regular basis, I contact our city officials and apprise them of concerns of residents of our community. I have advised them of the problems our area faces with respect to police brutality. At your urging, I will renew my dialogue with local officials and request that action be taken immediately to put an end to unnecessary killings by the police.

In closing, I want to thank you for taking the time to let me know where you stand on this important issue.

Sincerely,
Augustus F. Hawkins
