Abstract:

Consists of correspondence, writings, publicity materials, interviews, VHS tapes, and miscellaneous personal ephemera concerning San Francisco Bay Area writer of lesbian erotica, Red Jordan Arobateau. Contains incoming and outgoing correspondence with friends, publishers, magazine editors, and noted individuals in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community. Contains drafts of four self-published novels: The daughters of courage: a novel; The nearness you/sorrow of the madonna; The outlaws!; and, Tranny biker. Also includes several published poems and articles, and notes for a work possibly titled Stage door/trans man. Also contains publicity, reviews, and excerpts from Jordan's self-published novels, those published by Masquerade Books, and anthologies which include her short-stories, as well as catalogs from Red Jordan Press, and other women's and lesbian presses. Includes interviews with Arobateau, along with publicity and ephemera from her public appearances in the 1990s, and from Luna Sea, Klubstitute Kollective, and New Life Metropolitan Community Church. Contains 5 snapshots, including 2 taken by David Steinberg at a book launch and benefit for an anthology in which Arobateau was published, held in San Francisco on Sept. 25, 1997; and 3 from Klubstitute Kollective's Faux Drag Queen Pageant, a benefit for breast cancer research, Dec. 7, 1997. Also includes a small amount of material related to her partner, Dalila Jasmin, and two pen sketches on napkins of Arobateau.
