One holograph letter written by Emily B. Perry in response to Mary's inquiry about a Mr. Vinton. She claims to have no knowledge of him but she did meet the Rev. Francis Vinton, Assistant Rector of Trinity Church, New York City, his wife, the only daughter of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry whose maiden name is Elizabeth Mason Perry, and their daughter, Elizabeth Mason Vinton, on September 10th, 1860 in Cleveland, Ohio. She also reveals that her great grandparents were Judge Freeman Perry and Mercy Hazard, their youngest son was her grandfather George Hazard Perry, and her father was Rev. Gideon Babcock Perry. Her great grandparents also had a second son, Christopher Raymond Perry, who's the father of Oliver Hazard Perry, and he and his brother, George Hazard Perry, were born at the Perry Homestead in Rhode Island, the same place where their father, Judge Freeman Perry, was born and died at the age of 83. Also mentioned are Oliver Hazard Perry's sisters, Mrs. Rodgers, wife of Commander George F. Rodgers, and the late Mrs. Butler, mother of Senator M. C. Butler, and Admiral Rodgers, nephew of Oliver Hazard Perry and Mathew Calbraith Perry, who married Mrs. Slidell.
