The bulk of the collection consists of miscellaneous invoices sent by various firms in China and Hong Kong to the Far East
Co., Hong Kong, purchasing agent for the San Francisco firm. Goods ordered are mainly food products, handicrafts, and art
objects. Also includes a few business letters, 1946-1963; a list of customers in the 1950s; records of goods received, 1968-1972;
and ledgers of income and disbursements for 1926 to 1927, and 1950. Of particular note is an undated booklet of food and drug
labels, prepared by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, containing printed forms possibly used to accompany prescriptions. The
labels list botanical names, use, recommended dosage, and formula for a variety of herbal medicines, tonics, and supplements,
with additional spaces for recording manufacturer and net weight.

An invoice found in the collection indicates that in 1947, Far East Company was located at 760 Sacramento Street, San Francisco,
doing business as a grower and shipper of wholesale cut flowers, including asters and chrysanthemums, from their packing house
in San Mateo.
