Description
The collection is comprised of photographs of the Belasco, Mayer, and Bender families, David Belasco's publicity stills, programs from the New Alcazar Theatre, newspaper clippings, a program from a dinner honoring David Belasco, and a caricature of the New Alcazar Theatre staff. The Life of David Belasco (Winter) contains a number of photographs from the collection.
Background
Humphrey (1830-1911) and Reyna (1830-?) Belasco emigrated to the United States from London. In 1853 their first son, David, was born in San Francisco. Humphrey and Reyna (also Reina) subsequently had 10 children, including, Frederic (Frederick) (1862-?), Walter, Edward, George, and Sarah.
